1. This PowerPoint shows how to use a portfolio to drive a student-led conference
2. This PowerPoint explains what makes a Powerful Portfolio

Portfolios can be flat or digital but the main purpose is that it shows a students growth and/or reflection on where they are at and what they need to do to get to the next step. The actual presentation of the portfolio has little to do with its importance to the learner.
Portfolios can have samples of work in them, I suggest that each sample has a small prompt to help trigger the student into a reflective frame of mind. It is important that teachers build on the language of reflection because these portfolios will not be any use if the student can't refer to them to have a discussion about their learning.
